Education and Work Experience

A journey of life long learning.

From the classroom to the field, I’ve sought out opportunities to grow, lead, and make measurable impact. This section highlights the academic foundations that ground my work, alongside a professional trajectory defined by deep passion for eliminating health disparities.

Education Highlights:

Earned Doctor of Public Health from University of South Florida, 2023 (GPA: 4.0)

Earned Master of Public Health from Capella University, 2013

Earned Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from North Carolina State University, 2008

In recognition of my academic excellence, I was inducted into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. I was initiated into the Pi Kappa Phi chapter at the University of South Florida in 2023.

Work Experience Highlights:

Senior Director, Health Access and Quality
American Diabetes Association - (2023–Present)
I lead national strategies to improve chronic disease prevention and clinical trial diversity, designing culturally tailored interventions that have shifted participant perceptions of research. I’ve embedded implementation science into our organizational strategy and built cross-sector partnerships to co-create scalable health access solutions.

Health Promotion & Community Outreach Manager, Cancer Program Development Specialist
Atrium Health, Levine Cancer Institute - (2016–2023)
I developed and scaled cancer education programs that contribute to a program reach of over 50,000 community members annually. I led a multidisciplinary team, cultivated strategic partnerships, and delivered training that built local capacity to sustain equity-focused initiatives.

Clinical Research Consultant
Wake Forest School of Medicine - (2023–2024)
I recruited and led a diverse community advisory team to inform colorectal cancer screening research. Through participatory sessions, I translated lived experience into actionable insights that directly shaped clinical tools and outreach strategies.

Adjunct Professor of Public Health Practice
Simmons University (2024–2025)
I designed and taught graduate-level courses focused on health equity, equipping future public health professionals with the tools to lead with cultural humility and systems thinking.

Adjunct Professor, Health and Wellness
Gardner-Webb University, Central Piedmont Community College (2015–2020)

Health Education Coordinator
Gaston County DHHS - (2009–2016)
I served as a certified HIV counselor, achieving a 100% linkage-to-care rate for newly diagnosed clients. I also pioneered a nationally recognized SNAP-accessible farmers’ market model and delivered interactive sexual health workshops that improved screening uptake and risk reduction behaviors.
